Y.M. Syed Iskandar Alsagoff & YBhg. Puan Khor Min Zi
(Perak Royal Family, Malaysia)
“And one of His signs is that He created for you spouses from amongst yourselves so that you may find comfort in them. And He has placed between you love and compassion and mercy. Surely in this are signs for people to reflect.”
Suah Ar Rum 30:21
A Nikah Nama is a Muslim wedding contract, traditionally considered as treasured heirlooms within a family. This Nikah Nama depicts a motif inspired by a garden at midnight. It has been studded with hundreds of delicate Swarovski crystals of green and golden hues to mimic the twinkle of stars in a midsummer night’s sky.
To tie in Puan Khor Min Zi’s culture and heritage, red Swarovski crystals were added in the decorative ornamental elements on this Nikah Nama. This is a reflection of the red attire worn for the bride and groom’s Chinese Tea Ceremony. This piece was also mounted using traditional Chinese silk brocade as another way of tying in aspects of Chinese culture.
